Helping Others through Giving
As a church, we have an ongoing commitment to support with our prayers and also financially the following organisations:-
- The Church Missionary Society, in particular, Joseph and Karin Ayok-Loewenberg and their family working with Sudanese refugees in Egypt.
- The Children’s Society which helps over 40,000 children every year who are facing often horrendous problems and may have nowhere else to turn.
- The Bible Society which exists to provide translations of the Bible so that eventually everyone will be able to read the Bible in his or her own language.
- Christian Aid. St James with the Lynch Chapel and the Friends Meeting at Sidcot support Christian Aid in the annual house-to-house collection and other events aimed at raising awareness of the needs of the developing world.
Traidcraft: We have a stall selling fairly traded goods in the Church Hall on the 1st Sunday of the month following the Family Service.
Bournville Church: We have a well-established link with St Andrew’s Church on the Bournville Estate in Weston super Mare. As well as prayer support, we help with stocking the Vicar’s Pantry and with provisions for the School Breakfast Club.
Donations: In addition, the PCC sets aside a sum from the Church’s annual income for giving away to a number of other charities which are chosen from suggestions from members of the congregation.
